This little fellow stopped by the patio yesterday to say "hi". What a cheerful sight after all of the rain.

Finally something to post. Here in North Florida we have been dealing with the effects of rain, rain and more rain due to Faye. Our family is very blessed, we have just been inconvenienced but no one has been harmed and no major damage. This little painting is only a 4x6 inch and each layer has taken forever to dry but I think I am finally finished. I just wanted to paint something that was comfortable and cheerful. Hope you like it.

Portland Head Lighthouse II Finished

This is the rest of the WIP photos and the finish.

Another Lighthouse

When I started the previous lighthouse that I posted a couple of weeks ago, I was not certain of how the painting would progress. I actually had two views drawn so that if I totally messed up one I would have another one ready to go and would not have to start completely over. The first one turned out well and in fact I received a call yesterday from the proud owners. The husband is thrilled with his present and I can now finally relax.

Since I had this second one ready I decided to go ahead and finish it and here are some WIP shots.

Daylily

After completing the "Lighthouse" I thought I would do something more in my comfort zone today. It is painted on a 6x6 inch piece of Twinrocker WC paper.

A Different Direction

I haven't done many landscapes and I have never tried a lighthouse until now. So far, so good I think. Of course, I am always open to suggestions.

Desert Rose WIP - Finished ?

Final layer. The background is wet with mister spray bottle again and some indanthrone blue is added to the UM Blue/Sap Green mixture and dropped in the wet background. The painting is slight curled in the photo but is weighted down now and will be totally flat tomorrow AM. Comments / suggestions?

Desert Rose WIP - X

The flower and leaves were covered with frisket film and the first layer was added to the background. The background was wet and using UM Blue, Quin. Red & Sap Green color was added.

After the first layer is dry. I lightly sprayed the background with water using a mister bottle. Another layer of color is added using a mixture of UM Blue and Sap Green. Let it dry.

Desert Rose WIP - IX

I haven't had a lot of time to work on this but I have finished the leaves and hopefully will finish the background this weekend.

Also, just a bit of exciting news. My larkspur painting to the right is the featured painting on the homepage of WCW for the month of August. I joined the group in 2003 as a new artist that had just discovered watercolor and at that time only could dream that one day I would be the featured artist. I am so honored to have my painting displayed on the homepage. WCW is a great group of artist who really help and encourage each other.
