Conch Final - Colored Pencil

I have received my packet for the colored pencil class that I will start on Jan. 5 so I am going to call my practice piece finished and concentrate on learning everything that I can from the class.

I also want to let everyone know that I will be doing a give away drawing each month starting in January. The gift will range from original paintings to prints and note cards. More WIP shots. I think I will take a break and find a watercolor painting to work on for a while and come back with fresh eyes. I lost more white than I had planned to on the right side so I am taking the left side very slowly to try and get it right.

Colored Pencil WIP - Conch II

Here is an update. Right now I am wondering why I don't choose projects that are a little less complex.

I have started a new colored pencil project. I had to adjust it so that you could see the lines which are very faint in my drawing. It is a conch shell on the beach with a wave crashing around it. The reference photo is not mine but I do have permission to use the photo from the photographer. I am also thinking that I may try this in watercolor and colored pencil once the weather warms up enough that I am comfortable in the studio. (Here in north Florida that will be in a day or two.) If I give that a try I will post those results also for comparison.

Watercolor - Barn Landscape

This one has been a slow one to paint but I think it is finally finished. It is 1/2 sheet watercolor. If anyone has any suggestions for improvement I would be happy to hear them.

I think it is finished. At least with my limited knowledge of colored pencil, I don't have any idea of what else to do to it - lol.

Colored Pencil WIP

I will be taking a colored pencil class in January and felt that a bit of practice would not hurt. This is only the fourth colored pencil piece that I have attempted. I did an Ann Kullberg kit several years ago and I have done two small pieces since that time. I have been working on this one for a couple of days. There are many layers but no burnishing yet. The reference photo is from the WetCanvas RIL.
