Have a great week!

I haven't had a lot of time to paint the last couple of weeks so I will share a picture with you. Have a great week!

Bird Pictures

It was a busy weekend but I did manage a few minutes to work with the zoom feature on my camera. It was cloudy so they are not the greatest shots but I will try again with the sun shining.

Tom Jones Workshop

I have just finished up a 3 day workshop at the Colquitt county Arts Center in Moultrie, GA by Tom Jones. I really enjoyed the workshop and feel that I learned a lot that I can actually use in my future paintings. Tom was very generous with his knowledge, not holding back secrets but willing to share and answer all questions about technique and materials and also the reasons behind his work and style. We watched him demo different parts of a landscape painting such as trees, moving water, sky, mountains, mist, rocks, reflections and then we would work on a study focusing on these areas so that by the end of the workshop you certainly had enough information to develop landscape paintings on your own.

He and his wife Bonnie (who helped keep everything organized and flowing smoothly) were very helpful and gracious. There were little door prizes everyday and little gifts for everyone (paper samples, pens, cards etc.) The last day Tom gave each person a beautiful 1/2 sheet size watercolor print personally signed for us. I would highly recommend this workshop. If there is one in your area sign up and be ready to work hard, learn a lot and laugh. He is also coming out with a new book very soon called Simplified Landscapes by Tom Jones and he is also developing his own line of brushes. Check out his website for info on workshops and products. http://www.tomjonesartist.com/

What's for Dinner

This is just a little 5x7 inch watercolor. I drew him about 6 months ago and just had left him lying to the side. After totally destroying another painting I was working on today I pulled him out of the stack and finished him. I don't think he is one of my best but he is certainly better than the painting in the trash bin.

My DH picked these today while visiting his sister. He said that I might want to take some pictures. If the persimmons are ripe that indicates that fall is just around the corner.

Once In A Blue Moon II

Today was play day and this painting is a result of some ideas that resulted from a recent watercolor challenge that I participated in. It is 6x8 inches on 300lb Arches HP paper. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Labor Day!
