The Visitor

While taking some still life photos for a possible future painting, I had a visitor. The butterfly just made him/her self at home and I got several good shots. I wanted to share one with my blogger friends. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Pears in colored Pencil WIP III

I am slowly progressing on this one. I added some additional layers to the colander base using the same colors as before. I have started adding in the shadows using one layer of Cool Grey 70% (PC 1065) and one layer of Slate Grey (PC 936) so far. I then started adding some background color going over the background and beginning shadows with one layer of Putty Beige (PC 1083) and just started a second layer of Seashell Pink (PC 1093) that you can see on the right side. More to come later......... Thanks for following along.

Butterfly

There is a young lady that is a great fan of my art. At this time in her life and career she is not ready to purchase original art but regularly buys prints and notecards for herself and gifts. She needed a butterfly print for a birthday gift but I didn't have a butterfly painted. I painted this one over weekend and now have a print for her. I am putting the original on my "gallery" for sale.

My First Lotus Bloom!

I interupt my Pears WIP to bring you my first lotus bloom! I have taken other pictures but this one is actually my plant. Last year I put out just a couple of seed that I collected. In one season the lotus pads have covered one end of my pond and this bloom is actually on the opposite side from where I planted the seed. I don't think DH is thrilled with my new plant but the blooms are so beautiful. So far I see two more buds so everyone will be seeing more pictures I am sure. If you click on the picture it will show you the larger one so that you can see the details.

Pears in Colored Pencil WIP I

I though I would share a WIP with you. This one is in colored pencil so it will be slow. The top picture is the reference photo and it was taken in direct sunshine which washed the pears out a bit.
I am attempting to correct that as I work on the pears. I also will get some color put in throughout the entire painting and then do a final adjusting of colors. The first wip photo shows approx. 4-6 hours work. If you have questions I will be glad to try to answer them but keep in mind that I am new to working with colored pencil so much of what I do is by just giving it a try.
