I love the immediacy of laying down colors with watercolors and even have enough patience to do glazing in watercolor, but cannot imagine how much effort all that layering and smoothing it takes to achieve the results you do with pencils. This already has such a glow and I am sure with subsequent darker layers will be magnificent.

Regarding the SWAP paintings, I decided to do something different this time and reveal my SWAP painting but not reveal for whom I did it! Kinda sneaky, but fun.Watercolors by Susan Roperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15091873961431846148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3173185050050232433.post-12697104308205392082009-09-29T06:23:18.068-04:002009-09-29T06:23:18.068-04:00Thank you so much Judith, Laure and Ruth. When looking at this in the small version, I love the shadows, great composition and especially the lights from the colander holes making a pattern on the pear. .
Then when looking at the larger version, Wow! Your strokes/shading are so precisely, smoothly & perfectly laid in & blended. The kaleidoscope of colors that can be seen in the fruit & bowl so far are beautiful. Actually right now, the pears are more beautiful than an actual perfect pear.
Really look forward to seeing this in finished state.
