WIP VII -Seashell - Finished?

I think that I am finally about finished with the seashell.  It has been too cold to work in the studio (it has AC for summer but normally I can get by with a little electric heater in the winter) so I brought it inside and took over the dining room table.  I have found that there are many more interruptions in the home than when I am "hiding" in the studio.  There are some things that I would do differently if I were painting it again but I do like how the shell itself turned out and I am proud of myself for painting something larger than 5x7 (it is 24x18).  Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Wow! that's all I can say! The shell and its reflection are incredibly soft and beautiful. At that large size especially, it must be such a stunning piece!

A beautiful finish, Vicki! I often have interruptions even when hiding out in my little art room but them's the breaks when you have a husband who wants to show you the latest whatever he's working on while I'm trying to finish a wash! ha ha I have to have a ceramic space heater in my room, too, since it's right off the garage and no heat there.

Good grief, didn't realize it was that large! No wonder it took a while - and well worth the time - it's fantastic! I could pick it up and hold it to my ear!

Absolute beauty. There are so many areas in this that are beautifully painted and they all make a super super entity. I start to say to myself I love this part, like the water with its reflections just at the base of the shell, then I spy the water spread on the sand so interestingly, but then I see the texture on the outer shell and then all the tender colors strike me, then I look again and see the interesting delicate colors of the nacro interior of the shell. Still I move on to the breaking white water on top of the wave and the gradation of the blue water into the sand...none is better than the other. Every shape is perfectly formed. Every color perfect. Every placement of elements in right place. I love the shell edge breaking thru the plane of the water edge in just the right place. All this is intriguing and beautiful. One to study and study and enjoy and enjoy over and over!

Wow! What a beauty you've created.
You must be delighted with it, especially as its panted outside your usual size.

Thank you Christiane, Rhonda, Deb, Ruth & Pat. Now to frame it but since I do that myself it shouldn't be that expensive. Ruth if I ever have a big fancy show I want you to write the press release for me.

'Tis lovely done, Vicki! You can hear the song of the sea if you listen closely....

Oooo, that may be the title, Vicki: The Song of the Sea :)

Thank you Laure for your comment and thank you Rhonda for pointing out that it would be a great title (why didn't I see that?). Thank you both, now the seashell has a name - The Song of the Sea - I like it!

Vicki,

I have seen some spectacular paintings by you but this one tops them all! It is just perfect, in every way, from the pearlescent glow of the shell to the perfect reflections. Wow!

I think you did a beautiful job on this Vicki. Very nice.
I too am having a time keeping my studio warm. I heat both it and the house with wood and it is sure going through it this winter. It will be about 10 cords I am afraid.
Thank you too for the kind comments on my art blog.

Thanks so much Gary, Barbra Joan & Teresa! I appreciate your comments. Gary I know that you would laugh at our winters here in North Florida but I can't imagine try to survive yours. I know Barbra Joan, Ruth does have a way with words!
