Nap Time

While at this time I no longer have the luxury of taking 6 to 8 weeks to work on a painting  and I find that I can't add every hair,  I still love to paint as detailed as I can in a week. I do hope that I am still able to capture the personality of the animal and paint "that look".  This painting of "Nap Time" was so much fun to paint.  I am especially pleased with the fabric on his bed because the colors are so rich.  This is another 8x8 inch watercolor that will be varnished.  Hope you enjoy "Nap Time"!  Thanks to tofslie for the use of the reference photo.

Another wonderful dog portrait! My niece and daughter-in-law have this breed and I am sure that they will wish they had such a wonderful portrait of their own dogs!

Thank you Kathryn & Anonymous!
I think Boxers have the most wonderful expressions and I really enjoy painting them.

Vicki - what an adorable painting - you do capture so much detail and more than that you have a way of making them look so sweet. Love your art (I am especially fond of animals) - do you ever paint cats?

Thank you Debbie! I have painted some lions and tigers. I do have some really cute domestic cat photos that I am planning to give a try.

Oh my, Vicki! This is just priceless, the look on his face! And, I agree with you, that cushion is very rick-looking and realistic. You are just good!

Nothing wrong with not painting every hair! This is wonderful, as is, and definitely captures the feeling - makes you want to just grab this little one up and give her a big squeeze :)
