Today was play day and this painting is a result of some ideas that resulted from a recent watercolor challenge that I participated in. It is 6x8 inches on 300lb Arches HP paper. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Labor Day!
Vicki, This is wonderful in so many ways! The mood, spirit and thrust of this is so good! The only thing I see that may detract from this is the branches of Spanish Moss that are in front of the moon and in back of the moon. If you have a moon that size I think that all of the Spanish Moss should be in front of the moon and that could be accomplished easily by connecting that one frond of moss below the moon with one that goes acrosss the moon. Otherwise, this is a great painting!
Vicki, the more I see this, the more I like it. I think just a bit of darkening the blue sky behind the moon will make it pop more but I'm not sure I'd change a thing to this. It is abstracted but totally readable and very mysterious.
Thank you guys so much. Since this is a painting that I was just expermenting and playing with I certainly appreciate any and all suggestion and input because I am sure that I will work with this technique some more. There is something about the simplicity of this one that I like too.

That is an incredibly unique piece! it's so intriguing, it has a wonderful eerie mood. And the texture is soooo cool!
I think that having some of the branches behind the moon actually adds some mystery and interest to the painting, and makes it more abstract.
