I had hoped to have a watercolor painting to post today but I have spent the weekend cleaning my koi pond instead of painting. Instead I will post a botanical style painting that I finished last weekend. It is 5x7 inches and is framed in an 11x14 inch frame with a double matt. I still remember the joy as a child of discovering that a bunny hid in the center of the larkspur blooms. These plants reseeded themselves in my grandmother's garden each year and bloomed in shades of purple, pink and white.

Trying to start a new habit
I believe that starting a new habit is as difficult as breaking an old one. But I am going to make an effort to update my blog at least weekly.
As an artist my camera is never too far away and I am always looking for that perfect reference photo. I take many, many photos and most of them are throw aways, a few are OK and occasionally I take one that must become a painting. I have a Rose of Sharon that is blooming in spite of our heat and humidity and I took a few shots recently. Here is one of them.
If you would like to use this reference photo for a painting, I will be happy to send you a larger picture.
