Daylily Delight

This is the second painting in my series of "Botanicals In Glass". This day lily has been so cheerful and bloomed so well this year that I thought it should be rewarded by painting it. This is my second attempt with this day lily. The first start was just a total disaster from the beginning and while it was difficult to admit defeat and even more difficult to throw out a piece of Twinrocker paper, I am glad that I started over. The paper size is 6x8. I have two more pieces of paper this size and I am now looking for the next deserving subject.

Vicki this paint is very beautiful, I love both: the flower so fresh and vivid and the vase looks so real. You're working really fine.

Beautiful and delicate bloom in a sturdy vase that looks solid and strong. My only question - is that stem big enough to hold that big bloom? I like this series and look forward to seeing your next one on Twinrocker. Love the soft deckled edge.

This is a very sensitive portrait of one lucky day lily. Great color scheme.

Twinrocker paper - you actually threw the first piece away? I've never had my hands on that legendary paper. Next time, please throw it in my direction :-)

Thank you Loredana, Rhonda & Nava. I appreciate your comments. Rhonda the stems to the day lilies are rather small and very stiff. Nava, yes I threw it away. If you get a chance give Twinrocker a try. It doesn't work great for everything such as masking or corrections and it lifts color very easily but the colors stay vivid and I really enjoy using it for these "botanical" studies.

I'm loving the contrast in this and especially like the way you've left the BG alone. Keep up the good work! Kathy
