Conte du Renard

Conte du Renard is completed and dressed in a beautiful custom made frame.  The painting is 5x5 inches and the framed size is 13x13 inches.  This one would make a perfect gift, ready to pull out of the box and hang.  Thanks to Domenico at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dominiqs/ for the reference photo.  Monsieur Renard is painted mainly with transparent watercolor with touches of gouache and colored pencil and then varnished.  As a special bonus I am including free shipping in the United States.  For purchase information click here .

He is fantastic! Great job. How long have you been mounting your watercolors? What do you mount them to?

This is gorgeous. The frame is perfect for it. Like Krista, I would love to hear about your technique for varnishing and mounting your watercolors to canvas.

Thanks Krista & Christiane. This is a new process for me and this is what I am doing. I mount 300lb watercolor paper to aquabord (previously called claybord textured)using Golden Soft Gel. I am sure that any coated or sealed masonite would work but I already had the aquabord and used it. Then I painted my painting as normal. Once complete I sealed with Claybord Fixative Spray and then varnished with Golden Satin Varnish. Hopefully that makes sense but will be glad to answer any questions that I can about the process.

Such a lovely fox!!! It was fun watching the wips and now we see it framed! I am sure it will be a wonderful addition to someone's art collection. How wonderful that you slipped some cps into the piece. :-)

Thanks Teresa! It was really fun to use watercolor and add cps and I am starting my second piece in my Magnificent Petit Series.
