1st Painting of the New Year!

I think that I have almost forgotten how to post.  My DH has had repeated hospitalizations since the end of September the last one being the day after Christmas until this past Wednesday.  While I haven't had time to work on a large painting, I did manage to finish this little 8x8 painting, working a few minutes here and there at the dining room table.  This adorable puppy came together literally one spot at a time.  I have mounted it on board and am in the process of varnishing it.  Once varnished and framed I will post another picture.  Thanks for looking!  I hope that every one's New Year is starting off with renewed hope and creativity. Thanks to Maja Dumat - flickr.com for the reference photo.

Vicki, your painting is super! That is a lot of work to put in an 8 x8. And I really hope DH is well on the way to good health!

All I can say is - O M G! Are you sure you didn't post the photo! Talk about realism - WOW! Fantastic! Hope your husband's situation is not overly serious, and that he recovers quickly.

Thank each and every one of you for your kind comments. I have missed my blogging buddies so much. I don't have a lot of spare time to comment right now but I do grab a moment to two to look at everyone's work and be inspired! DH is dealing with a rare auto immune disease of the kidneys which is treated with 6 months to a year of chemo. The problem we are dealing with right now is getting him stable enough to handle the chemo treatments. Of course I will grab a moment as I can to paint because it is good for the soul! Thanks again!

Wonderful work Vicki - I especially like the contrast of his lovely brown eyes with his black and white fur. I wish both you and DH many blessings in this new year. May his condition become stable and may his health continue to improve! I have a friend whose kidneys failed a year ago, due to an auto immune condition. She became quite ill, spent much time in hospital, endured many tests, had chemo treatments and 12 months later she is doing very, very well. Hang in there!

Teresa thank you so much for the encouraging words. It is nice to hear good news from the other side of the tunnel because this side is pretty awful and shakes your whole world as you know it. I will try painting a tiger next - just one stripe at a time.

Oh Vicki! It is so good to see you painting and posting again, you and your paintings have been missed! I still have fingers crossed and prayers in my heart for Allan, what a miserable thing for you two to have to deal with.

I see that you have not lost your touch through this ordeal, this is another real beauty!

Hi Vicki,
It's nice to see you back in the blogging world again. What a fantastic painting! I love the detail work, especially those puppy eyes.
Please send DH a big hug from "Hummingbird" and let him know that many prayers are being said for his complete recovery. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Here's to a better year! ~Eve
