Waiting

Waiting
8x8 inch Varnished Watercolor
$120.00

I got up extra early this morning so that I could paint before all of the other daily activity began and it paid off because I finally finished this painting.  I really like the big cats.  They are so majestic.  Hope everyone is having a good week.

Great tiger, Vicki. The fur texture is wonderful. What surface do you mount the paper on, with what sort of adhesive? And, of course, what type of varnish do you use? ... if I may be so bold as to ask.

Thank you and of course you can ask Katheryn. I mount my painting done on 300lb paper (I have talked with other artist that use 140lb without a problem)to 1/8 gesso board using Golden soft gel gloss medium and then varnishe with Golden Polymer Varnish. I tried several different products and this works best for me.

Vicki - love your tiger - so interesting how you mount your painting and varnish - does the varnish change the colors a bit? Yours seem so rich and beautiful.

Thank you Debbie. The photo you see is before varnish and the varnish doesn't change that very much at all.

Vicki, this great cat looks very noble. I love his eyes! Really well done.

May I ask if you brush on the polymer varnish?

Thank you Christiane. I mix a bit of water in the varnish and pour it on the painting (it has been sprayed with a workable fixative)then I spread it with a light touch and a foam brush, then tilt the painting to let the excess run off and lay it back flat to dry.
