Mockingbird

This is the 4th project from my Susan Bourdet online class (I haven't completed project 3 yet).  This little mockingbird made itself at home on the front porch one cold winter morning and I just happened to have my camera when I opened the door.  I combined several reference photos to get the begonia to look good (they get a bit ugly in the winter - I guess they don't like being shut up either).  I really enjoyed all of the detail in this one and the background was really fun to create.

Lovely painting and I like how you put your signature/name on the pot like it's carved there :) I'm not crazy about mockingbirds - in the spring they are the most aggressive things and will chase away any bird at the feeders - but I do like their varied songs.

Vicki, what a wonderful painting! I especially like how the background is integrated with the rest of the painting; and is there, but not intrusive.

Thanks Rhonda, Christiane, Jane, Laure, & Susan. The name is done with Watermark Factory 2 which is a nice little program. Mockingbirds can be aggressive but the woodpeckers keep them in line here and while the birds have a definate pecking order they all get their turn at the feeders. I really am enjoying learning to combine photos. I appreciate your comments.

Nice painting Vicki, The arrangement is very nice. I love the varied songs of the mockingbirds and here in Pa. they are kept in line by blue jays and the occasional hawk that comes by.

Barbra Joan, thank you. DH has been very sick and in the hospital for most of the last two months. I hope to be back painting soon!
