Kumquats

I want to thank everyone for your wonderful response to my January giveaway. Your kind comments are really appreciated. I can hardly wait until the 24th when DH can draw a name and see who won! Remember entries will be accepted through January 23 so if you know of anyone that might be interested, let them know.

I am sharing a picture with you today. We had visitors yesterday and they brought us kumquats from their yard. Over the years you do not realize the little habits you develop that might seem strange to those that are not around you very often. The kumquats were so fresh and pretty I grabbed the bag, a kitchen towel, a saucer and my camera and headed for the yard. I just happened to glance and see the "what in the world is she doing look" on their faces. My DH just laughed and said you might see those again in a painting.

A very inviting photo, I hope it ends up in your painting! My husband gets plenty of exercise rolling his eyes when we're together because I always take photos of food and everything that triggers my creative antlers!

Vicki, count me in as another of your kindred souls because as DH says, "everything she sees she wants to photograph and everything she photographs she wants to paint"! I have been known to cease preparing a salad and take the red bell peppers outside and do a quick still life set-up and photo session. I also did that with some red and yellow onions...all of which you have seen in paintings of mine. So, I don't find it strange at all that you would do that! Seems kinda normal to me.

Thanks ladies! Food does have such wonderful, amazing colors. I am glad that my artist friends and DH understand.

Agree with all the above. I'll certainly be watching to see what you do with this "painting!"

I also get such glances, as I go on a photo spree of objects unfathomed by others. Such is the life of an artist :-)

Thanks for your comment on my blog, and - a very happy 2009!!

I saw kumquats at market the other day and thought they were so pretty, but I wouldn't know how to eat them! Do you have to prepare them a certain way, or peel them?

They look so pretty here against the blue bowl.
