January Art Giveaway & Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

This is my one year anniversary for the monthly blog giveaway.  And above is the giveaway painting for January called, "I'm Not Going Without A Fight".  The reference photo is from deel34 at Flickr.  Her photo is under the Creative Commons and this crab's attitude was something I just had to paint. It is an original 5x7 inch watercolor and will be shipped without mat or frame.  To enter the drawing just send an email to vgreene@windstream.net with January Art Giveaway in the subject line.  The drawing for the winner will be on January 15.

I have taken some time to evaluate the monthly giveaway and I want to continue them in 2010 but with a few changes.  I think that it may be a bit stressful to try to paint an original for each month so I will give away an original each quarter (January, April, July & October) and then will give away a print or box of note cards on the other months.  I do hope that each of you will continue to enjoy and participate in the monthly giveaway.  Each of you (my subscribers, followers and even random visitor) are appreciated.

I pray that your 2010 will be filled with blessings.  I am excited and looking forward to growth and accomplishments this year.  I have some wonderful painting ideas and I am jotting down notes and working on reference photos and sketches.

Well, my favorite color is blue and my hubby is a marine biologist so I had to enter this drawing - keeping my fingers crossed! ha ha Don't you just love it when they stand their ground, both arms in the air like: I'm a lot bigger than I look and you don't scare me! ha ha

Thanks shicat and Rhonda. I really think that animals with an attitude are much cuter than people with an attitude - lol.

Hello - we found your blog via Tula - she sent us over - that is a beautiful watercolour - we love the ocean and cannot resist a beach! This reminds of a little guy that caught our attention last summer - he had the same attitude when we tried to 'pick' him up - I guess he didn't appreciate Terrier curiosity!

Great character and the sandy beach has a very clever textured look. Good luck with your plans for 2010 - something special about that number for all us artists.

Thanks Joan!

Ya know Vicki, this crab is REALLY gorgeous. If you were not giving this away I would have made a real offer.

Thank you so much Micah. I really appreciate you comment since I want my give aways to be just a special as something I would paint to sell. I am thinking about doing a series with maybe some sea shells, driftwood and such so he or his brother just might show up again as part of a larger painting. Good luck on the drawing!
