Blue-Plate Special

Blue-Plate Special
12x24 inch Watercolor
$350.00

I will look at this one for a few days and make sure that I don't want to do any minor touch ups before varnishing but basically "Geraniums & Lace" is finished.  I am pleased with the reds and I didn't find them so difficult to work with as I usually do.  Thanks for looking. C&Cs welcome!

This is the 2nd rose finished.  I am calling it "Gold in the Garden".  It is 5x5 inches and will be varnished and framed in the same frame as the "Roses are Red" painting.  The framed painting will be posted on the DailyPaintWorks auction site for $95.
All comments are welcome and thanks for stopping by to take a look.

Here is a picture of the red rose, now officially named "Roses Are Red", in its frame. The painting and frame measure 13x13 inches and I have put it on the DailyPaintWorks site for auction for only $95 for the framed painting.

Below is a WIP shot of the 2nd rose that I am working on and it also is 5x5 inches and will be framed in the same frame as the red rose.

Rose Painting

I was surprised when I saw that it had been so long since my last post but there were some lags in my painting time.  This is a 5x5 inch watercolor that I just "finished".  I am still looking at it to make sure that I don't want to do any touch ups before varnishing and framing it.  I have the most delightful frame and will post a picture once it is framed.  I don't have a name for it yet. All comments welcome.

Here is my latest watercolor, "The End of the Day"!  It is 5x5 inches, mounted to gesso board and varnished. I have attached several pictures of the frame also.  I will be putting this on the DailyPaintWorks site today for auction.  The painting will come with this lovely 4 inch frame and be ready to display.  The total size of the painting and frame is 13x13.  Thanks to Ani Carrington @ Flickr for the reference photo.

Passion Flowers

This is Project 3 of my class with Susan Bourdet.  The idea for this painting started years ago when I spotted a plant on sale at a local home improvement store.  Lady Margaret Passion Vine came home with me and promptly covered my garden fence.  The butterflies loved her and many photos were taken.   The photos were beautiful but did not think that I had the ability to paint these amazing flowers.  Susan said that I could paint this and so I did.   This watercolor painting is 20x20 inches.

Morning Glories

This is the second project in my online class with Susan Bourdet   I had taken some lovely pictures of morning glories growing on my garden fence and previously had attempted to paint them but the painting went in the trash bin.  This class gave me the opportunity to attempt morning glories again and I am much more pleased with the results.  The painting is 20x20 inches.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  My next project - passion flowers.

Sunflowers

Many of you may remember that I mentioned I would be taking an online watercolor class.  This is my first project - Sunflowers!
The one on one online tutoring is taught by Susan Bourdet - http://www.susanbourdet.com/ For information about her tutoring class, go to her website and click on the "Workshop" link.
This is not a cookie cutter class.  She evaluated my work, we discussed my plans/goals and we picked up at the skill level I was currently at and we are working from that point.  I am using my own reference photos and I am very pleased with my first project.  There will be 10 projects total.  Morning Glories are next!

WIP Butterfly

Can you believe that i am actually posting a WIP painting?  I am on a very short deadline for this one and I hope that I can pull it off.  It is a donation for a Hospice fundraiser.  I just have the first layer on the background and it is so wet and humid today that it isn't drying so it will be tomorrow after work before I can continue.  Yes, I know that it is in the ugly stage but I am hoping that it will get better. The finished painting will be 7.5x19 inches.

This piece is called "Gardenia".  It is a 5x7 inch watercolor that is mounted on a 9x12 gallery wrap canvas and then varnished.  This is an original painting that you can take out of the shipping box, hang and enjoy immediately.  I see that it looks a little bit crooked in the photo but that is my photography, not my painting.
Send me an email at vgreene@windstream.net with July Giveaway in the subject line and you will be entered in the drawing.  The winning name will be drawn on July 16th.  Best of luck to each of you!
